Simple Face Mask
The simple face mask are used for patients requiring more oxygen than is delivered via the cannula. The flow rate for the simple face mask is between 4 to 8 LPM. The mask fits over the face with a aluminum clip conforming to the shape of the nose on top and an elastic strap around the head to keep the mask in place.
Venturi mask
A Venturi mask mixes oxygen with room air, creating high-flow enriched oxygen of a settable concentration. It provides an accurate and constant FI,O2. Typical FI,O2 delivery settings are 24, 28, 31, 35, 40 and 60% oxygen. The Venturi mask is often employed when the clinician has a concern about CO2 retention.
Non-rebreathing Mask
There are 2 types available: Partial rebreathing and non-rebreathing masks. These masks deliver higher concentrations of oxygen for people with serious respiratory conditions: 70 to 90 percent from a partial re-breathing mask and above 90 percent from a non-rebreathing mask. In fact, one of the two one-way valves are normally removed, allowing inhalation of outside air in order to prevent suffocation. While Partial rebreathing masks allow part of the exhaled breath into the reservoir bag for inhalation during the subsequent breath.
